Angels and Demons and Nephilim, Oh My!
Wow, have I been busy! In less than a year I churned out The Earth Angels series—the first book is a nice, quick novella at 34K words in length, while the last one needed to be at nearly 80K. Lots of work, right? Only it wasn’t, because this series has been a total labor of love. Specifically, my love of paranormal tropes, and my love of the mythological world of angels, demons and the strange hybrid species borne of that world—the Nephilim.
In The Earth Angels series, I tackle the most familiar themes found in paranormal today—the super-soldier, the superhero, the hero who has lost all power, and the lover-turned-fighter. Then I gave these familiar themes two things: a common power source (their angelic DNA), and a villain (an unseen opponent that may or may not be demonic in nature). Eventually all these elements come together for a grand finale… but I can’t tell you about that yet.
What’s the greatest thing about choosing the world of angels, demons and Nephilim to write about? It’s got to be the limitless possibilities/abilities of the angels already existing in mythology. For example, Sara, the heroine in SAVAGE ANGEL, possesses powers that mirror the Seraphim, or The Burning Ones, who had wings of fire and mad soldier skills. For Zeke in NOBODY’S ANGEL, as the descendant of an angel of death, his powers are completely different, enabling him to deal with ghosts, geists, and the occasional demon. The other two modern-day Nephilim have yet to be revealed *smirk*, but I can guarantee you they are as different from the others as night is from day.
What I CAN tell you about is that the first two books, NOBODY’S ANGEL and SAVAGE ANGEL are now out and being shared with the world. *happy dance* SAVAGE ANGEL is the 2nd book in The Earth Angels series and the book I think of as Sara’s story. As a descendant of the Seraphim (angels that are kind of like the Secret Service who were created to guard the throne of God), Sara is hard-wired to be the perfect protective soldier. And she is perfect—at least on the battlefield. But when it comes to personal relationships, she’s has no clue what she’s doing. She’s painfully awkward around Gideon Mandeville, the man she had a one-night stand with and the man whose father she now has to protect against a serial killer. As for Gideon, an army doctor fresh from the front lines and battling some inner demons of his own, Sara’s angelic DNA might become a stumbling block. To catch a killer and reveal a much more sinister plot that unfolds throughout the remainder of the series, Sara and Gideon will have to trust each other—and maybe even fall in love.

BLURB
Book two in The Earth Angels
Feel nothing. Sara Savitch’s personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven’s soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she’s an amateur when it comes to relationships.
Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he’s walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer’s hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon’s dreams for a year.
As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon’s heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.

EXCERPT
“Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”
“An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”
She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”
“Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”
Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”
“Something that hot is hard to forget.”
